For environments with stricter security requirements — financial services, government, healthcare records, life sciences R&D — Metra with Genuine HID Technology readers communicate over OSDP v2 with Secure Channel, eliminating the cloning risk associated with legacy Wiegand. PIV and CAC card support is available for federal and defense deployments, with FIPS-aligned configurations on request.

Does Metra work with HID Mobile Access?

Yes. Metra readers are HID Mobile Access® ready and authenticate Seos credentials over both BLE and NFC, including credentials issued through HID Origo Mobile Identities.

Can our employees use Apple Wallet to open lockers with Metra Smart System?

Yes. Metra was the first smart locker provider to integrate Apple’s Enhanced Contactless Polling (ECP) at the reader level, so any HID-issued employee badge in Apple Wallet can unlock a locker. Apple Watch is supported the same way.

What options do we have regarding the locker management?

Metra Smart System for your workplace lockers usually comes with Metra software for smart locker management (MyMetraLockers) — either as an on-prem or cloud-based installation. If you will manage your lockers through your third-party management software, a REST API integration is available. The HID credentials and permissions are managed in your access control system. Onboarding, offboarding, and role changes propagate automatically.

What about legacy HID Prox cards?

Supported. Metra with Genuine HID Technology readers support 125 kHz HID Prox.

Is OSDP supported?

Yes — OSDP v2 with Secure Channel is the default communication mode for new Metra deployments. Wiegand is available for retrofits where the head-end hasn’t migrated yet.
